Fairy Tales of the Sea



Supplies Needed

1 tube of choice – I used the artwork of Verymany here

Font of choice – I used Afecta here

Vix mask 453 here

Plug Ins used:

“Fairy Tales of the Sea” is a PTU scrap kit created by Susan of Tootypup Scraps and can be purchased from any of her stores here.  This kit is only available in full size, but if you contact her, she may help you out with tagger size.  Thank you, Susan, for yet another amazing kit!   
  
This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

Copy and paste Frame 00 as a new layer.
Resize 45%
Free rotate Left 90 degrees.
Duplicate the frame 2x for a total of 3 frames.
Line them across your canvas making sure the middle frame is at the top of your layers pallet and covers the inside edges of the left and right frame – see my tag for reference.

Tip:  Click on View/Grid.  A grid will cover your entire work space and help you align the frames so they’re all even.  To shut the grid off click on View/Grid again.

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Reopen your white background.

Use your Magic Wand and Click inside of each frame.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
Copy and paste Paper 12 as a new layer below the merged frame.
Resize 55%
Right click on the paper in your layers pallet.
Choose “Promote Section to Layer”
Deselect for now.
Delete the original paper layer.

Copy and paste Frame 00 as a new layer just above your white canvas layer.
Tap the letter K on your keyboard to active your Pick Tool and squash the frame just a little to flatten it – see my tag for reference.
Tap the letter M on your keyboard to deactivate the Pick Tool.
Use your Magic Wand and click inside the frame.
Selections/Modify/Expand by 4.
New Raster layer below the frame.
Copy and paste Paper 2 Into Selection.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 5 Into Selection – Change the Properties of this paper to Color (Legacy).
Deselect.

Open up Paper 7.
In your Color pallet close out the foreground.  Change the background color to Pattern and look for Paper 7.
Angle: 0
Scale 70
Make your Rectangle Tool active set on Rectangle and then set on Square and match your settings to mine:

Create a 275 pixel square.
Right click on it in your layers pallet and choose “Convert to Raster Layer” from the sub menu. 
Duplicate the layer.
Mirror
Flip.
Move both squares into position – see my tag for reference.
To both squares Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Stroke Length: 9
Sharpness: 6
Strength: 1
OK

Open up Paper 5.
Change the pattern in your Color pallet to Paper 5.
Still using your Rectangle Tool, set it on Rectangle, use same settings and create a rectangle approximately 210 pixels wide x 390 pixels long.
Convert to Raster layer.
Move into position over the left square – see my tag for reference.
Duplicate/Mirror/Flip
Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch to each rectangle using same settings.

Create a rectangle approximately 100 pixels wide x 500 pixels long.
Center on your canvas.
Convert to Raster layer.
Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Use same settings.

Change the pattern in your color pallet back to Paper 7.
Create a rectangle that’s approximately 70 pixels wide by 450 pixels long.
Convert to Raster layer.
 Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Use same settings.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.

Add your elements.  I used:
Seagrass 03:  Resize 50%/Duplicate
Starfish 01:  Resize 10%
Fish 01:  15%
Fish 01a:  Resize 15%/Duplicate
Fish 01b:  Resize 20%
Chest 02:  Resize 15%
Beach Sand 01: Use Pick Tool to flatten a little
Ocean Floor 01a:  Resize 50%/Erase fish
Seashell 08a:  Resize 20%

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 12 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.
New Raster layer below the merged group layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 5 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.
Move to the right just a little – see my tag for reference.
Duplicate
Move to the left just a little – see my tag for reference.

Add your copyrights.

Add your name.
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #4e2c2f
 Background: #8d5621

Make your Text Tool active.
Set the stroke to 1.
Type your name.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:


Make your Selection Tool active set on Freehand.
Section out the bottom 1/3 of your name.
Ctrl + H (to activate Feather Selection Box)
Number of Pixels: 30
OK
Shift + B (to activate the Brightness/Contrast box)
Brightness: 115
Contrast: 11
OK
Deselect.

Color Pallet:
Foreground: #54b8b1

Make your Target Tool active and barely bump the bottom of your name just to give it a hint of the aqua green color.
Apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch
Use same settings.

Close out your white background.
Save your tag as a PNG.
