Book of Shadows


Supplies Needed

Font of choice – I used Burton’s Nightmare which can be found here

Monti’s Circular Mask here

My template 203 here

Plug Ins used:
Brush Strokes - Crosshatch

For this tutorial I used Angela Hobb’s “Book of Shadows” which can be purchased from her resale store here.  Thank you Angela for another fantastic kit!    
  
This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete the credit layer, Layer 18 and Layer 8
Image/Canvas Size:
700 x 700 Pixels
OK
Highlight the background layer.
Flood fill with #ffffff

Open up Angela’s Book of Shadows Template 2.
A pop up will tell you there are unsupported features, just press OK.
Copy Merged.

Highlight LAYER 1.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste the Copy Merged Into Selection.
At the top of your layers pallet click on the lock icon to lock to this layer.
Adjust/Blur/Radial Blur:
Use Default Settings.
OK
Click on the lock icon to unlock the layer. (if you don’t unlock the layer there are functions you won’t be able to do with it)
Edit/Copy
Deselect.

Highlight LAYER 2.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste what you just copied Into Selection.
Deselect.

Highlight LAYER 5.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste Into Selection.
Image/Flip
Image/Mirror
Deselect.

Highlight LAYER 3.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste Into Selection.
Deselect.

Delete Template LAYERS 1, 2, 3, and 5.

To each paper layer apply Brush Strokes – Crosshatch:
Match your settings to mine:

Highlight LAYER 4.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Make Angela’s Book template active and highlight Rear Cover layer.
Copy
Make my template active and Paste Into Selection.
Deselect.
Make your Selection Tool active set on Rectangle.
Section off a small area of the paper:

In your layers pallet Right Click your mouse on it.
From the submenu choose “Promote Section to Layer”
Deselect.
Move that small little square over the hole that’s in the paper.
Merge Down.
Copy

Highlight LAYER 6.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
Paste (the paper you just copied) Into Selection.
Deselect.
Cover the 2 holes on this paper the same as you did on the other piece of paper.
Don’t forget to merge the little squares with the paper.

Delete Template LAYERS 4 and 6.

To each paper apply the same Crosshatch effect using the same settings.

Highlight LAYER 7.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Make Angela’s Template active and Highlight and then copy Rear Cover layer.
Paste As a New Image.
Make your Selection Tool active and section off the entire paper accept for the holes.
Copy. (Do not deselect or close this out, you’ll be using it again)
Make my template active and Paste Into Selection.
New Raster layer.
Make Angela’s Template active and Highlight and then copy Teal 2 layer.
Make my template active and Paste Into Selection.
Change the Properties of this layer to Soft Light.
Give each Paper layer the same Crosshatch effect using the same settings.
DO NOT delete the template layer.

Repeat the above steps with LAYERS 14, 15, AND 16.
DO NOT give the papers the crosshatch effect and DO NOT delete these template layers.

The Rear Cover paper that I had you Paste as a New Image, that make active.  It should still have the huge section sectioned off. 
Copy.

Make my template active.
Highlight LAYER 10.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight LAYER 12.
Repeat the above step.

Make Angela’s Template active and Highlight and copy Paper Grey layer.
Make my template active.
Highlight LAYER 9.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste the paper Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the ring a slight Inner Bevel:

Repeat the above step with LAYERS 11 AND 13.

Highlight LAYER 17.
Click on it with our Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Angela’s Teal 2 paper Into Selection.
Deselect.
Give it the same Crosshatch effect using the same settings.
Delete the template layer.

Make Angela’s template active.
Highlight and copy the Square Frame layer.

Make my template active.
Paste as a new layer.
Resize 25% and 80%
Duplicate 2x’s and move each frame over each of the little square papers.

Merge Visible Template LAYERS 14, 15, AND 16.
Click anywhere outside of this merged layer with your Magic Wand.
You can click the eye of this template layer, but keep it selected.
Make Angela’s Template active and copy Morgana layer.
Make my template active and paste as a new layer above the little squares.
Change the Property of it to Soft Light and move it into position – see my tag as reference.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.

Repeat the above step with the large circle – see my tag for reference.
Once you’ve done that you can delete template LAYER 7.

Add your elements.  I used:
Binding Trim:  Resize 30%/Duplicate 3x’s
Element 02: (Open the layer) Resize 40%/Duplicate 3x’s
CHILI_DESIGNZ_CU_VOL36_element1:  Resize 70%/Duplicate 3x’s
Morgana:  Resize 60%

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Teal 2 Paper Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.

Add your copyrights.

Add your name.
Color Pallet:
Foreground:  #17140d
Background: #b56809
Stroke: 1.0
Type your name.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel 2x’s:

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Resize all layers 85%.

Wisteria



Supplies Needed

1 tube of choice – I used a beautiful tube by Janna Prosvirina which can be purchased from Digital Art Heaven.

Font of choice – I used Penshurst here

Weescotlass Mask 219 here

My template 210 here

“A Dragon’s Dreamy Day” is a FTU tagger size scrap kit created by me, Bev of HorsePlay’s Pasture Designs and can be downloaded from my designing blog here.
    
   This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete Credit Layer, Layer 4, and Layer 3
Image/Canvas Size:
700 x 700 Pixels
OK
Highlight the background layer.
Flood fill with #ffffff

Highlight LAYER 1.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Copy and paste Paper 5 as a new layer.
Tap the delete key.
Copy and paste EL47 as a new layer over the paper layer.  Move into position – see my tag for reference.  Leave this for now.
Copy and paste EL68 as a new layer.  Move this and the rainbow element into position – see my tag for reference.
Once the elements are in position, highlight each element layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Layer 2.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Copy and paste Paper 5 again as a new layer.
Tap the delete key.
Copy and paste EL67 as a new layer.  Move into position – see my tag for reference.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Layer 5.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 17 Into Selection.
Adjust/Add Remove Noise/Add Noise:
Uniform and Monochrome checked
Noise: 14%
OK
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper layer a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight Layer 9.
Repeat the above step.

Highlight Layer 6.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Invert
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 16 Into Selection.
Change the Properties to Multiply.
Duplicate the layer.
Merge Down.
Give the merged paper layer the same slight Inner Bevel.
Deselect.

Repeat the above step with Layers 10 and 14.

Color Pallet:
Foreground: #efefef
Background: #b34361

Highlight Layer 8.
Make your Color Replace Tool active.
Double Right click your mouse over the template.
It should have changed to the background color.
Adjust/Add Remove Noise/Add Noise:
Use same settings.

Repeat the above step with Layers 12 and 16.

Color Pallet:
Foreground: #e5cba8
Background: Keep the same.

Highlight Layer 13.
The color replacer tool should still be active, double right click on the template.
Apply the same Noise effect.

Highlight Layer 15.
Copy and paste Paper 11 as a new layer.
Resize 75%
(Click on the eye of the paper layer to close it out – so you can see something neat in the next step!)
Highlight template Layer 15.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the closed-out paper layer in your layers pallet and right click your mouse on it.  From the submenu choose “Promote Section to Layer”. 
Tada!  You should see the paper square now!  Give it the same slight Inner Bevel.
Duplicate/Change the Properties to Burn.
Merge Down.
Delete the template layer.

Move the closed-out paper layer above Layer 7.
Repeat the above step.

Repeat the above step with Layer 11 accept don’t delete the template layer yet.
Once you’ve done that, copy and paste your tube as a new layer over the square.
Change the Properties of the tube to Soft Light.
Highlight the paper layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the tube layer.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
If you’re using the same tube as I did, resize 85% and snug it up into the top left corner of the top Rectangle.

Add your elements.  I used:
El 26:  Resize 90%/Mirror/Duplicate/Flip/Erase what sticks out of the top of the rectangles.
El 10:  Resize 50%
El 7:  Resize 40%/Free rotate Right 25 degrees/Duplicate/Mirror/Resize 70%
EL 40:  Resize 70%/Duplicate

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 14 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.
Duplicate
Move one of the masks to the upper left area of your tag and the other in the bottom right area.

Add your copyrights.

Add your name.
Color Pallet:
Foreground:  #cecdf2  
Background: #872b48
Stroke: 1.0
Set both the foreground and background to Gradient:
Style: Linear
Invert checked.
Type your name.
Right click your mouse on your name.  The Vector Property Box will open up.
Click on the stroke color box and change it to #a73e63.  Click OK.
Click OK on the Vector Property Box.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Resize all layers 85%.
Crop your image.
