Autumn Magic

Supplies Needed

Font of choice – I used Shime’s One here

Vix mask 452 here

My Template 166 here

Plug Ins used:
Pixelate – Sector Mosaic
Greg’s Factory Output Vol. II – Pool Shadow

“Autumn Magic” is a PTU tagger size scrap kit created by Conchi of DNScraps and can be purchased from Mystical Scraps.  You can visit Conchi’s blog here
  
This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP. 

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up the template.
Shift + D.
Close out the original.
Delete the credit layer.
Highlight the background layer.
Flood fill white.

Highlight Raster 1 layer.
Click anywhere outside of the template with your Magic Wand.
Copy and paste Paper 4 as a new layer.
Move the paper over the template so that you see the very bright yellow color that’s in the center of the paper.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Adjust/Add Remove Noise/Add Noise:
Random and Monochrome checked
Noise: 40%
OK
Delete the template layer.

Repeat the above step with Raster 3 and Raster 8 template layers.

Highlight Raster 2 template layer.
Click on it with your Magic Wand.
New Raster layer.
Paste Paper 4 (it should still be in the memory) Into Selection.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Repeat the above step with Raster 4 and Raster 9, accept after you have pasted the paper into  Raster 9 template layer DO NOT deselect and continue with the following steps –

Copy and paste Magic Tree 2 as a new layer above the paper layer.
Resize 75%
Move into position – see my tag for reference.
Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Paste the element again as a new layer.
Mirror
Resize 75% and 70%
Lower the Opacity to about 34.
Highlight the paper layer and click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Highlight the tree layer.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.

Highlight Raster 5 Template layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Copy and paste Paper 3 as a new layer.
Move the paper so the top left area where it’s the lightest is over the template.
Tap the delete key.
Click on the Lock Icon at the top of your layers pallet to lock the layer.
Apply Pixelate – Sector Mosaic:
Theta Tiles: 0
Rho Tiles: 244
OK
Click on the Lock Icon again to unlock the layer.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight Raster 6 template layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Copy and paste Paper 3 as a new layer.
Move the paper so that the darkest are of the paper covers the template.
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Delete the template layer.
Give the paper a slight Inner Bevel:

Color Pallet:
Foreground:  #007790
Background: #ef9c30

Highlight Raster 7 template layer.
Make your Color Replacer Tool active and double right click on the template.
Give the template layer a slight Inner Bevel:
Use same settings.

Add your elements.  I used:
Bridge:  Resize 60%/Mirror
Art 3:  Resize 50%
Comet:  Resize 40%
Fox:  Resize 80%
Trunk:  Mirror
Bird:  Resize 10%/Duplicate/Mirror
Basket:  Resize 30%
Fox (again):  Resize 30%/Duplicate 2x’s and mirror one of them/Erase whatever parts of the fox you don’t want to stick out of the basket.

To feather the edges of the branch at the top of your tag:
Highlight the white background layer.
Select All.
Selections/Modify/Inside Outside Feather:
Both checked
Feather amount: 35
OK
Highlight the branch layer and tap the delete key 5x’s.
Deselect.

Open up the preview to the kit (it can be found in the elements folder).
Make your Selection Tool active set on rectangle and section out the main area of the preview.
Copy.

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Paste Into Selection.
Deselect.
Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur:
Radius: 10
OK
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.
Move the mask so it fits nicely behind the circles of the tag.

Add your copyrights.

Add your name.
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #000000
Background: #000000
Make your Text Tool active and set the stroke to .5
Type your name.
Duplicate.
Change the background color in your color pallet to #d73905.
Make your Color Replacer Tool active and double right click your mouse on your duplicated name layer.
It should have turned to an Orange color.
Move it below the black colored name layer and move it slightly up and to the left.
Merge Visible both name layers.
Apply Greg’s Factory Output Vol. II – Pool Shadow:
Use default settings.
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:
Use same settings

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Resize all layers to 500 pixels.

  1. What version of PSP are you using for this tutorial? I can't get Pool shadow won't work in X5, X6, or X7 that I have installed on this laptop.

  2. I'm using XI. I really don't know what to tell you about the plug in not working in those versions. I'm sure if you googled it you'll come up with the reason and an answer for it. It may have something to do with the program files.
