“Winter’s Storm” is a PTU tagger size scrap kit created by Cindy of Scrappin with lil Ole Me and can be purchased from Scrappin Your Memories.  You can visit her blog here.  Cindy, this kit is packed with inspiration, thank you!!

This tutorial was written assuming you have working knowledge of PSP.

~~ Let’s get started ~~

Open up a 700 x 700 blank canvas.
Flood fill white.

New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 20 Into Selection.
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 10 Into Selection.  Change the Properties to Color (Legacy).
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 4 Into Selection.  Change the Properties to Color (Legacy).

Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Reopen your white background.

Copy, paste, resize, and arrange the following elements onto your canvas.  Remember, this is your tag so do add or remove elements as you like, as well as arrange them however you wish!!
El120
El51:  Duplicate/Resize 40%/Duplicate as many times as you like.  I lowered the Opacity on some to 30 to give it a “far off” look.
El 71
El15:  Resize 40%
El105:  Resize 25%
El102:  Resize 55%
El94:  Resize 35%/Duplicate as many times as you like/mirror as you like

Once you have all your elements on your canvas and all are in position and they all have drop shadows –
Close out your white background.
Merge Visible.
Reopen your white background.
Highlight the merged layer.
Apply Xenofex – Burnt Edges:
Match your settings to mine –

OK

Resize 60% - Rename this layer “Merged 1”
Close this layer out for now.

Highlight your white background layer.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 20 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the same Burnt effect.
Resize 60%
Free rotate Left 7 degrees.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Selections/Invert
New Raster layer.
Copy and paste Paper 21 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Close out your white background layer.
Merge Visible – Rename “Merged 2”.
Move this slightly to the left and up a little.
Open up your other merged layer.
Move both layers into exact position – see my tag for reference.

Highlight “Merged 1” layer.
Click anywhere outside of it with your Magic Wand.
Open up the Snow that I supplied.
Copy and paste each snow layer onto your working canvas, or use the Drag/Drop method (I have a tutorial on that method here).
Once all snow layers are pasted on your working canvas rename them S1, S2, S3, etc.
Highlight each snow layer and tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Close out all snow layers accept for S1.

Copy and paste el80 as a new layer just above your white background layer.
Resize 80%.
Use your Target Tool and change the color to #f2e8f3.

Add the rest of your elements.  I used:
El34:  Resize 50%
El35:  Resize 60%/Duplicate/Mirror
El40:  Duplicate/Duplicate/Mirror/Erase what you don’t want seen
El97:  Resize 40%/Mirror/Erase the inside loop
El106:  Resize 50%

Open up el33.
Shift + D.
Close out the original element.
Make your Selection Tool active set on Rectangle.
In the settings at the top of your program set Feather to 30.
Section out the top half of the element:

Selections/Invert
Tap the delete key.
Deselect.
Copy and paste as a new layer onto your working canvas.
Duplicate/Mirror
Move the mirrored layer behind the rabbit and use the other to place before your name.
If the element seems too tall then tap the letter “K” on your keyboard to activate your pick tool and flatten it out a little.

Don’t forget to change the feather setting of your Rectangle Tool back to 0!
(Or you’ll be pulling your hair out the next time you use it and can’t figure out what’s wrong with it!)

Add your copyrights.

Add your name:
Color Pallet:
Foreground: #ffffff
Background: #a584ae
Make your Text Tool active
Set the Stroke Width to 1.
Type your name
Give it a slight Inner Bevel:

Highlight your white background.
New Raster layer.
Select All.
Copy and paste Paper 11 Into Selection.
Deselect.
Apply the mask.
Merge Group.
Move toward the upper right corner just a little.
Duplicate/Mirror/Flip

Add a snow drift effect to elements of your choice – I used it on my name and the greenery.  You can adjust the snow height to whatever you choose, but here’s my settings:
Settings Tab:
Small, First Flakes

Basic Tab:

Copy Merged.

~Time to Animate~

Open up Animation Shop.
Edit/Paste as New Animation.

Back in PSP.
Close out S1.
Open up S2.
Copy Merged.

Carry into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Back in PSP.
Close out S2.
Open up S3.
Copy Merged.

Carry into AS.
Edit/Paste/After Current Frame.

Continue doing this until you have all 10 snow layers copied and pasted into AS.

View your animation.
Don’t panic if it’s going backward!  That’s an easy fix…
Ctrl + A to highlight all frames.
Animation/Reverse Frames

If you’re happy with your animation –
Animation/Resize Animation –
Click Pixel Size
Width x Height – 600
OK
Save your animation.

I’d love to see your results.
Email me!
Hugs,
Bev
